Gassner, Patrykus Elected to Waupun School Board—Spring Elections

WAUPUN — Long-time incumbent Jennie B. Patrykus and new-comer Dustin Gassner were elected to serve three year terms on the Waupun Area Board of Education, defeating current School Board president Stepehen Chene in a hotly contested race. 

As there were two School Board seats up for election with three candidates, the election was conducted as “vote for two”, with the two highest voted candidates taking the open seats. The three candidates were Dustin Gassner, Stephen Chene, Jennie B. Patrykus, who were interviewed by WPN last week.

The City of Waupun released the city voting results on the official municipal website. Gassner received 795 votes from the City of Waupun, with a total of 1,680 votes district-wide. Chene received 838 votes from the City of Waupun with a total of 1,451 district-wide. Patrykus received 1,314 votes in the City of Waupun, with a total of 2,474 votes district wide.

The election results were certified by the Board of Canvassers Thursday morning. The new Board of Education members will be seated on April 24 and will serve three year terms

District 1 Alderman Jason Westphal received 132 votes, defeating challenger Karissa Smits who received 110 votes. Two votes were cast as write-ins. City Council District 1 is in the southeast section of the city. 

Waupun attorney Todd Snow defeated Beaver Dam attorney Maryann Schact for Beaver Dam Municipal Court Judge. Snow received 1,255 votes in the City of Waupun while Schacht only received 575. A district-wide total was not released to the public as of publishing time.
