WAUPUN — Celebrate Waupun returned to Waupun this weekend for its 10th year with many exciting attractions including carnival rides, games, a petting zoo, and live music. The highly anticipated festival was attended by Mayor Rohn Bishop who helped at the fish fry in the big tent, and gave a speech introducing one of the bands Friday evening, Boogie and the Yo-Yo’z. Other bands throughout the weekend included Redfish Remix, Gary Cross, Sparks Band, Bella Cain, Bob Viking, II Cool, and Pink Houses.
The Waupun Hockey Association held a fundraiser cornhole tournament on Saturday in the Waupun Community Center. On Saturday afternoon the City of Waupun hosted “City of Sculpture” tours on a historic trolly. A car show was held at Harris Mill Park on Sunday, with countless restored vehicles of various designs. And Sunday evening saw the annual fireworks show over Juniper Hill to wrap up the weekend.
Celebrate Waupun saw record success with sponsorships at an all time high, over 60 local and regional sponsors. A&P Carnival, the company that Celebrate Waupun works with for the rides and games, saw a record year with Sunday having the largest carnival attendance. Over 540 advanced-sale megaband passes were sold through Piggly-Wiggly and online before the festival began Friday the 24th. The Leroy Meats fish fry sold 350 meals with the big tent packed to the brim Friday afternoon.
Waupun Festivals has scheduled next year’s Celebrate Waupun on the weekend of June 23rd, 24th, and 25th.
