About Waupun Pioneer News
Waupun Pioneer News was started as a Facebook page in January 2022 by Jaedon Buchholz, a born-and-raised native of Waupun. Buchholz graduated from Waupun High School in the class of 2019. Buchholz worked at the Waupun Public Library throughout high school and worked as a library intern for a time, as well as being involved at the Waupun Historical Society. He attended UW Fond du Lac before becoming involved in state-level politics, which grew his interest in journalism.
After the Waupun Leader News shut down in the 1990s, Waupun did not have a consistent local newspaper that covered local events. There were some short lived print newspapers after that as well as the local weekly marketers such as the Fond du Lac Action Shopper and the Beaver Dam Daily Citizen’s Monday Marketer. But after the Fond du Lac Action Shopper shut down in May 2022, Waupun was left without a consistent and free access news source.
The Waupun Pioneer News strives to be a direct and honest source of local news.
