Waupun Utilities celebrates Smart Energy Provider Week
– Designation reflects focus on helpful service and managing costs
WAUPUN — As the American Public Power Association marks Smart Energy Provider Week, Feb. 9–13, Waupun Utilities is highlighting its Smart Energy Provider designation and what it means for customers and the community.
The title reflects a long-standing focus on helping customers reduce energy waste, implement responsible planning and provide clear customer communication. Together, these practices help manage costs over time, support reliable electric service and give customers practical tools and information to use energy wisely.
“Smart energy programs are not about awards. They are about doing the work the right way for our community,” said Steve Brooks, General Manager of Waupun Utilities. “That means managing costs responsibly, planning for the future and providing services and information that are useful and easy for customers to understand.”
The three-year designation of Smart Energy Provider is awarded following a detailed review of a utility against industry best practices in energy efficiency, customer programs and long-term system planning, ensuring those efforts deliver measurable value.
Waupun Utilities is among fewer than 10% of public power utilities nationwide to hold the Smart Energy Provider designation.
