Hello Waupun,
Friday was the annual Waupun Business Alliance golf outing, and then in the evening was the first of the Discover Downtown Waupun First Friday of the Month summer events. With so much going on I almost forgot to write this week’s column!
The Waupun Business Alliance is a local chapter of Envision Greater Fond du Lac, and it was nice to see such a strong turnout for the golf event. While I’m a terrible golfer, it’s still fun to get out and visit with so many folks. It’s also good to get the Envision leadership team here to see all the great things happening in Waupun! Thank you to Envision for their work in organizing the golf outing and for taking the lead with all the local ribbon cuttings… and Waupun has had a lot of ribbon cuttings these last few years!
On Friday night, it was fun to see everyone who came downtown for the first of the First Friday of the Month events. For June, July, and August, on the evening of the first Friday there will be food trucks, games, live music, and more activities located at the Food Truck and open space area. It gives you a good chance to come out and see our newest sculpture, “Catching the Wind.”
With summer now here, the Summer Parks Program and the Library Summer Reading Program are in full swing, and the pool will open today! So, grab your sunscreen and enjoy these hazy early days of summer!
In city news, it looks like we’ll have a busy summer. We’ll be having several meetings as we prepare for new housing projects and improvements to our central business district, mainly the back alley improvements.
Waupun has a lot going on!
