WAUPUN — An artist reception was held Thursday night for Justine Port, whose artwork has been on display at the Waupun Public Library for the last month and a half.
Justine Port has been a member of the Waupun Fine Arts group for over a decade, having painted for over 50 years. Most of her works are watercolors, with a few oil paintings, and many “miniatures” even on Christmas ornaments.
The reception was held in the Hillyer Conference Room, where Justine gave a speech describing her career in art including taking lessons with a group starting in the 1970s, where she moved over the years, and her inspiration for painting.
Justine’s primary subjects to paint are nature scenes and birds, both of which were well on display at the library.
The reception was attended by members of the committee and several interested members of the public. Library staff assisted in setting up and replacing the artwork for display.
“I just thought it was a wonderful gathering,” Port said. “We had a nice group, and I’m most happy to speak—I didn’t think I was going to and I enjoyed all the people that came and all the people that worked to make it a success.”
Port’s artwork will be on display in the second floor of the library for a few more weeks before rotating to a new gallery of prints from a local photographer.
Her work has been on display before, including being one of the featured artists in the Waupun Fine Arts Gallery back in November of 2014.
