WAUPUN — Christmas time has come again with a wide array of holiday-themed events. Most notable of the events no doubt is the annual Christmas Parade, set for Friday, December 1st.
Parade begins at 6:30PM from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church going east on Main Street. The parade will be followed by a “visit with Santa” time from 7PM to 10PM, as well as free open bowling at Jud-son’s Bowling Alley sponsored by the family of Nancy Vanderkin and Glamour Shop.
“Start off the Christmas Season with Waupun’s 2023 Christmas Parade,” the Facebook event says.
Mayor of Waupun Rohn Bishop will be leading a short “lighting of the tree” ceremony at 5:30PM Friday evening at the greenspace next to Stone + Suede to kick off the Christmas festivities.
“I’m looking forward to joining my fellow Waupunians as we kick off this Christmas season,” Mayor Bishop said.
From 5PM to 8PM the same night as the parade the Waupun Historical Society will be hosting “A Waupun Cook Book Christmas,” a holiday-themed open house event.
“Our volunteers will be making some tasty, festive, and historical recipes from cook books compiled by the women of Waupun from 1905, 1909, 1917, and 1937!” the event post says. “Stop in and get warm in the cozy Carnegie Library before or after the Downtown Holiday Parade, sample from our “bill of fare” and explore Waupun winter scenes from long ago. Food is only available while supplies last, so be sure to visit!”
“‘A Waupun Cook Book Christmas’ features some recipes from the 1905 edition, including ‘Mrs. (Teddy) Roosevelt’s spice cake, submitted personally for this book,’” the Historical Society said in another post.
Also to be held next week Thursday is a “Wheels & Reels” drive-in movie to be held at Tanner Park on Spring Street.
“Wheels & Reels is back at Tanner Park, and we’re revving up for a night of stars, cars, and cinema under the skyline! This year’s feature is a true classic—you might say it’s a ‘household’ favorite that packs a punch of slapstick humor and festive cheer. Think crafty traps, a big house, and a little mischief.”
The Facebook event includes an image from Home Alone. There will be two showings at 4:30PM and 6:30PM in the evening on Thursday, November 30th.
“Get ready to park your ride and enjoy a film that’ll make you cheer for the underdog from the comfort of your car seat,” the post says.
